I'm using recent frustrations to demonstrate difficulties for autistics/aspies to socialize.

  • I'm an adult with HFA, and never felt the need to have friends. I always feel suffocated by other people and never get any enjoyment from being around them. My bearded dragon is my best friend and all I need. Human interaction isn't worth it.

  • @misspinkpunkykat A lot of people don't understand that or how it develops. It's hard on us too. Do you deal with people in general? Like at work or anyplace else?

  • Oh my gosh I have autism, and sometimes it feels like my mom hates me for it. I am really high-functioning, but that doesn't mean I don't have my problems. Like I can't eat meat or gelatin, yeast, ketchup, all because they have animal products in them, and the mental images actually make me experience the sensory things, and I have a few other sensory problems. Yes, I am HIGH functioning, but that doesn't mean that I can just "get over it", thanks for reminding me, there are others like me.

  • @thewildeman2 Nope. I don't interact with people period. I don't work yet and am still in school, using a co respondance program I use at home.

  • It's a lot to learn. I relate it to learning a new language. It takes time and never will be 100% for us.

  • I have a hard time picking up social cues, but i'm getting better.I ask my mom if I hadn't gotten help, what could've happened to me,she said that i'd be the same way I am today, but i'd be a little worse off.

  • thanks
