SHOT FROM THE SKY - The Arthur Turner Story

Arthur Turner, one of Charltons most prolific strikers talks to Phil Webster in CHOICE Tv's most remarkable interview to date.

In a story told for the very first time the 89 year old former "Addick" recalls how his goals shot Charlton to Wembley for the first time in 1946 less than 3 years after his RAF Wellington Bomber was shot down by a German Submarine in the Bay of Biscay, he was the only survivor from a crew of 6.

Arthur also reveals how he came to sign for Charlton, his memories of local rivals Millwall 70 years ago, the biggest influence on his career and his close relationships with Jimmy Seed, Sam Bartram, Jimmy Trotter and RAF colleague Sir Stanley Matthews. Arthur also reveals why he went from playing in an FA Cup final to joining a non league side after such a successful spell with Charlton.

This is a story that encapsulates not only how times have changed on the pitch but also the sacrifice made by a prolific goalscorer to ensure the survival of a 1940s family business. This film has real education value and is a "must see" for all Charlton fans young and old.

This is the Arthur Turner story.
