The Better Beer Authority sips on BBC Nut Brown Ale this week. As Joby says "If it's Nut Brown, you gotta drink 'er down!"

There is a blooper after the credits roll.

Partial Transcript: "On Tap BBC Nut Brown Ale

Hi Im James Knott and this is your Better Beer Authority. Today we are talking about BBC Nut Brown Ale from the Bluegrass Brewing Company in Louisville, KY.

This is an English Brown Ale with 4.9%ABV and 29 IBUs.

The company claims it has a diverse grain bill of pale, caramel and dark malts to create a smooth, sweet malt profile with hints of roasted nuttiness.

What is a Grain Bill?

The Grain Bill is a list of grains used in the brewing process. Various types of malted barley make up the largest portion of these ingredients. However, the list can also include unmalted barley, wheat, rice, corn, rye & oats.

Each grain has distinct attributes that will affect the flavor, color and character of the beer.

The main purpose of these ingredients is to provide starches which can be converted to sugars during mashing which will then be turned into alcohol during fermentation.

Q&A Describe the appearance of this beer. Color? Head? Carbonation?

  • When I clicked on this link I was excited because I thought it was a review for Berkshire Brewing Company, one of my favorite breweries. You guys should do a review of one of their beers, lost sailor ipa and shabadoo are my 2 favorites.

  • @52tlove Thanks for the tip. I'll look for it next time I'm at the bottle shop.

  • I feel like you should compare nut browns to nut browns and not pale or stouts.

  • @gibsonm18 Good point. This is one of our earlier episodes. I hope you will check out one of our newer episodes. I think we have improved since we shot this. Cheers!

  • Fantastic production,, cool review!

  • @binahwebmedia Thanks.

  • Porters, stouts, pale ales,IPA's,amber's Salvator doppel bock are all brewed with top fermenting ale yeast. I've been exploring different ways to make them at home. It's a lot of fun, since ales can be brewed at cool room temps. Typically in 5 gallon batches. But this one strikes me as a little more of a nut flavored dark ale, than, say,a newcastle brown which is lighter colored/flavored.

  • FYI: Stouts are Ales. A Nut Brown Ale should be a little thinner in mouthfeel. but i think you got that out. I liked this group of reviews though, there was more information here than in another one of the reviews I watched of yours

  • FYI: Stouts are Ales.

  • @robertc190 Thanks for watching. Drink an Orion for me!
