Dr. Watkins' book "What if George Bush Were a Black Man?" has been considered one of the most riveting statements of modern social commentary. He has been a distinguished visiting scholar around the world, including the highly-prestigious Shanghai University of Finance and Economics in China, The Center for European Economic Research and Carnegie-Mellon University. He is also the author of the popular books "What if George Bush were a Black Man?", "Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about College" and "Financial Lovemaking 101: Merging Assets with your Partner in Ways that Feel Good."
Dr. Watkins, through research featured on CNN, CBS, ESPN, The Washington Post and The LA Times, led the movement to properly compensate college athletes, many of whom live in poverty while their coaches make millions. In Watkins' words "Not compensating players' families, while giving coaches millions is about as unAmerican as you can get. If an 8 year old stars in a $100 million dollar blockbuster film, that kid expects to get paid. But for athletes, we
think the rules should change."
Watkins argues that the tax exempt status of the NCAA should be challenged, and that they should no longer have an anti-trust exemption.
"I consider you, Dr. Boyce to be one of the most eligible bachelors in America and the most significant voice of our generation."
- Wendy Williams, Radio Show Host Dr. Watkins
Educationally, Dr. Watkins earned BA and BS degrees with a triple major in Finance, Economics and Business Management. In college, he was selected by the Wall Street Journal as the Outstanding Graduating Senior in Finance. He then earned a Masters Degree in Mathematical Statistics from The University of Kentucky and a PhD in Finance from The Ohio State University and was the only African-American in the world to earn a PHD in Finance during the year 2002. He is currently a Finance Professor at Syracuse University.
"What you say is brilliant. It is pleasant to see an african-american of such esteemed stature as part of the faculty at Syracuse. Unfortunately, as you have already discussed, it is well overdue and furthermore you should not be the only faculty member who has the joy of such distinction." - Andrew, Syracuse University student
Dr. Boyce has appeared on The Wendy Williams Experience (11 million listeners) 6 times in the last year alone. He normally provides critical social commentary, financial advice and humor to Williams' audience.
