Playing devil's advocate here, I wonder if the fire was still going when Jesus was born (for the sake of the question, let's pretend that the Jesus story is literal and true). Wasn't his "sacrifice" supposed to replace all of these horrible animal sacrifices? If that is the case, does that delete the validity of the entire old testament?
