Swix Triac® 1.0 cross country ski pole

Swix has a new ski pole for for world class cross country skiers heading off to the 2010 Olympics that has several unique features:

1. The basket is screws on to the shaft. There are interchangeable baskets for different conditions. It's about time someone came up with this design! This should changing baskets between soft and hard conditions so much easier - assuming Swix has a good selection of baskets.

2. The pole has a triangular shape. Swix claims this makes the pole "...stiffer, stronger and lighter than any Nordic poles ever designed." (Their last concept pole was exceptionally stiff, but I did not see many skiers using it).

3. The strap has increased thumb support and has a new strap retention system that allegedly allows better adjustments to different hand sizes.

I would expect Swix to have these on sale in select ski shops toward the end of the season.
