where did you get the chin+fenders? did you shave the front bumpers yourself?

That's sexy.

will it raise the front wheels off the ground?

@AZPONG Thanks. Even if one of our neighbors wasn't a cop, I still wouldn't do a burn out by my house out of respect for our neighbors. They would look at the burn out mark everyday and think, "this guy over here". :) Everyone that has seen it around the neighborhood always ask about it, or conversations with new neighbors start up as, "are you the one with the bug". :) Everyone has a bug story it seems.

How hard was it to mount the VW body to the S10 chassis? I am thinking of doing the same thing...

@stevensj13 Not too difficult. Just time consuming. Weld up some body mounts to the frame that will bolt up to the body. Or weld the body to the frame.

@cmattdabrat Cool. Did you use the V6 S10 Chassis or the 4 cylinder chassis? or are they pretty much the same thing?

@stevensj13 The 4 cylinder and v6 is the same frame. The only difference is the motor mounts, rear gearing and the rear diff. Some came with the 7.5, some with 7.625. Mine was a long bed, extended cab, v6 frame.

@cmattdabrat Okay cool. Does the extended cab long bed V6 have a longer wheel base than the 4 cylinder regular? Also, did you have to mod the bug body to fit the wheel base of the ranger frame, or shorten the ranger frame? if the wheels fit the bug fenders and the chassis is a good fit width wise then I will get searching for a ranger junker and theres a bug for sale locally for $500 running/driving.

@stevensj13 I used an S10 frame. What engine do you plan on going with? If a 302, 351, or ford, use the ranger frame. If you plan on using a chevy engine (ie 350, 383), I would get an S10 frame. Just get a regular cab shortbed to work with. You can just move the front spring perches forward and trim the frame where needed. I did have to cut out most of the bug heater channels to make it fit over the S10 frame. Not sure how it would work with the Ranger. I had to widen the rear fenders only.
