Weed Wars Episode 2 - The Story Of Jayden (5 yr old treated with Cannabis tincture)

The story of Jayden. A five year old boy who suffers from a severe form of epilepsy, called Dravet's Syndrome.

Since Jayden was four months old he has had seizures every day of his life. His first seizure was on Christmas morning of 2006, and the tiny infant suffered for over an hour. Since then, he has been on countless medications to try to control his epilepsy, but nothing has provided much help. Sometimes his rescue medications didn't even work, which ultimately just allowed the medicine to eat up time that could have been spent rushing him to the emergency room.

On this episode, the father, Jason, is beside himself. He said that they don't even know what Jayden's personality is like because of all the drugs he's been put on. Out of desperation, Jason went to Harborside Health Center, a medical marijuana dispensary in Oakland. He said he had heard other people in his support group talking about some success with the drug. He purchased a form of it that didn't have the psychoactive effects that most people associate with the weed. It was made up of high levels of CBD, which is the component that has been linked to easing pain. It came in a liquid form that made it easy to give the child and eliminated the need for smoking.

At the end of the episode, Jason went back to Harborside and told them that his son not only laughed and hummed for the first time, but went four days without a seizure! Before you say it was because he was high, I will remind you that the form Jayden was given made him feel none of the psychoactive effects. Do you still think Jason sounds like a bad parent?

The show is definitely working to open the eyes of people who are opposed to medical cannabis, thinking it's just a sham to make it easier for people to get high. This episode in particular was one that I think anyone who's against the efforts to legalize medicinal marijuana should watch, and then ask themselves two important questions. Could you and would you deny your child the only thing that has allowed them to go more than 24 hours without the fear and pain associated with a seizure?

because of this video I have researched cannabis for my 2 year old epileptic child! Her 1st dose was taken yesterday..I have hope and faith! Thank you for this awesome video and I hope it helps many more ill children out there!

He is a camera man that is his job, Im pretty sure his dad has the medical training to see his son through the seizure, the camera man's duty is to record it for information purposes so people cant say "The father said the kid had seizures but the kid looked fine to me, they are probably making it up"

What exact tincture is he using for his son? I've heard of an alta california tincture, but not sure if that's the same tincture, sure would like to know as I'm about to purchase some of the tincture this weekend

Just met Jason today. What an amazing dad! And FYI neurologist ask parents to video seizures at home so they can have a better understanding. It's not like he's filming it to show at his sons wedding to laugh at..
