  • Had to shoot my dog when he was badly injured by a car. Laughed my ass off.

  • Whenever I sang this song it could almost be guaranteed that many who heard it would be reduced to tears (that was just the music lovers!) I don't know how they'll react to my most recent YouTube upload "A Dog Named Dick"

    Best Wishes David

  • this song reminds me of when My dad was drunk and shot my dog Rover He was the same kind of dog No wonder I hate my dad Hope he's resting in HELL

  • If I get to those gates one day and they tell me my dog can't come in. I'm not going in because I'll know it's not the real heaven.

  • I would like to think that heaven is such a place, that when you arrive, all the dogs you have ever loved run to meet you.

  • My grandparents collie was named Shep. My brother and I played with that dog for hours at a time on the farm. Was a sad day when he died. My grandpa had to put him down and old sow coon tore him up pretty bad one night. We cried that whole Sunday!

  • this reminds me of a Smithsonian magazine article on dog graves. One I always think of was a rustic plank and hand carved was:

"Tho this is the grave of a mere dog, do not make light. For my master loved me and buried me here with his own hands."

  • I grew up with Shep, he was an Old English Sheepdog, My new step-brother took him for a walk and Shep never came back. He was with me from birth till I was six, I still cry and I'm 55. Even though this song tears my heart out, it brings Shep back to me, so Thank you.

  • why must dogs only live such a short life
