Leaving from Ventura, California on one of the concessionaire boats I arrive at Prisoners Harbor on Santa Cruz Island and spend a few hours walking around the area.
On the journey over we get to see some sea lions and humpback whales.

  • An interesting note about this video is that I actually drove from Las Vegas, Nevada to Ventura, before visiting the island and then returning to Vegas in one day!

  • You should do this for a living. You do an excellent job of narrating (really did your homework) and giving the viewer a visual feel of what you're experiencing. Kind of hard to hear you sometimes though but I guess you know that. Also more slow panoramic shots would be great.

I've always wanted to visit Prisoner's. It has some fascinating history.

Many thanks for the great video. I enjoyed it a lot!

  • @MrJoseSoplar Thanks so much for the praise and the constructive feedback! I'll take it all onboard

  • This is right by where I live. You put together some great videos, they are a real joy to watch!

  • @NPSurvival I'm glad you enjoy watching my videos! You're lucky to live near there, I really enjoyed my trip out to the Channel Islands

  • enjoy these parks while we can, its the first and largest budget cut on the table for 2013! thanks to our uninformed lazy voters who decided socialist change rhetoric was what they wanted for this country! instead of congress cutting down government like they should, they have thier sights set on the National parks budget!

  • @cowboytgl Although I'm not going to comment on the political or budget situation in your country, but I will say that I've visited 44/50 states in the US and visited 43/58 of the National Parks. I'd say they're the deciding factor in me visiting the US as a tourist.

The US can be expensive to get to, a real terrible time with rude customs agents, but when you get there and get a car and visit these beautiful cared after parks, it's worth it. I'd hate to lose the reason to visit!

  • I took the boat from Oban to Mull in July 2003 and needed three layers of clothing. I suppose I had better do the same on the trip from Santa Barbara to Santa Cruz!

  • @DStaniforth I agree on the natural beauty of this country. It is outstanding. I am going to Santa Cruz tomorrow and pretty excited about it.

  • @DStaniforth I don't wanna lose those places either, and I dont think we will, but you will deffinately see some changes in the upkeep and services in the National parks system. It's ashamed, and I so enjoy your vids...you are very lucky to be able to travel like that. there are no National parks near me, but if you ever want a tour of the swamp, this is the place to be!
