On October 13, 2009 a huge storm brought winds and heavy rain to the San Francisco Bay area. 4.2 inches of rain fell in the Richmond, CA area. Storm water runoff conveyed trash from the urban uplands of the Meeker Slough watershed. This video shows a trash gyre at the confluence of Meeker Ditch and Meeker Tidal Creek, the two main tributaries of Meeker Slough, home of the endangered California clapper rail (Rallus longirostris obsoletus).
