Recommendations: 1) Tell people to walk on the right. 2) Be realistic about the timing of the start of the race, prioritize people who aren't there yet by corral letter, and let those that are waiting go! 3) More portajohns. 4) Granulate the corrals (instead of 40-49 for A and B make it 40-45 for A, 45-49 for B) 5) Let the food out in waves so there is plenty left for walkers 6) MOVE WATER CLOSER TO THE FINISH! I had to walk another 1/4 mile after finishing the race (very dehydrated) for water.

The delay was kind of frustrating due to pre-hydration issues. The worst part was at the finish area though. After crossing the finish line I looked around for water or something similar, but all I saw was people who had hoarded bottles along the sidewalks. After I met back up with my pregnant wife, I was directed to a trailer full of water, but there was a few thousand people in the way. No thanks! It might also be a good idea to ensure everyone knows pre-race that walkers stay to the right.

IT WASN'T THAT BAD!
Please stop whining and have some perspective. The Las Vegas Marathon had MASSIVE PUBLIC SAFETY problems -- ONE example:
40,000+ runners meet 10,000+ concert-goers trying to go opposite direction = Inevitable grid lock for over 40 minutes. People passed out (one busted his head open -- blood everywhere). So overcrowded they could not get medical attention and were almost trampled.
THAT is a problem. Delayed start is a minor inconvenience.
The CRBR is a great race.

Everyone needs to stop their whining and get over it! (Especially you w/ the pregnant wife)They did the best they could&they have gone above & beyond what I have seen other race directors do in order to address the issues publicly.PS you run the bridge twice and people will complain its too hilly and hard, put water closer to the finish line and it will be so backed up noone will be able to cross, if you get hurt walking onto a shuttle bus you shouldn't be entered into the race to begin with!

THE SHUTTLES ARE THE BLACK EYE OF THE WHOLE EVENT.
NO ONE SAYS THEY ARE FUN
NO ONE THINKS THEY ARE PERFECTLY SAFE AND
EVERYONE WISHES THERE WAS ANOTHE WAY

Remove the shuttles and you remove-Massive lines, Massive waits, Massive time lost, Massive logistical nightmares,
Massive liabilities, Massive fuel expendituresMassive exposer to a tragic accident- runner(s) being hurt by a bus as they board and walk/run between buses to get a seat.Massive major tragedy of a bus accident hurting or maiming many runners all at once.

Dear CRBR Staff, Please consider the following:Chalk this year up as Big Lesson(s) learned. Yes, you have alot of pissed off runners, but fortunately no major harm was done,Thank Goodness! However, if you really learn from this series of collective mistakes and the CRBR will be all the better for years to come and remain an EPIC 10K. Everybody wants this race to keep being successful. Here is the Main Lesson:MAKE IT A LOOP!!

Here is the Main Lesson:MAKE IT A LOOP!!Let me say it again MAKE IT A LOOP!!THE CRBR HAS OUTGROWN THE SHUTTLE SYSTEM!!! WE, AS RUNNERS, WANT TO BE ABLE TO RUN OVER THAT BRIDGE TWICE, IT WOULD MAKE THE RACE MORE CHALLANGING AND TWICE THE THRILL TO SEE CHARLESTON AND THE HARBOR FROM A BIRDS EYE VIEW!!

CRBR officials shld talk to the folks that plan the Peachtree Roadrace. It's bigger (50,000+ runners) and the finish line is not nearly as congested as CRBR. I think if racers were transported according to bib # then the buses could use the race route to deliver racers, starting w the last corrals. Also, to earn a coveted spot in the front corrals, runners shld submit a proven race time from another 10k. Walkers, stay to the right!!

I definitely appreciate your great effort in making things right and letting us know that you've heard our concerns and frustrations with this year's race. This was my second CRBR, and my experience from last year is what will bring me back next year. This year's congestion at the finish was present last year as well, but I've also experienced that at many of the other races I've run. You can only do so much to accommodate for 40,000+ people at a finish area. I can't wait until next year!! :)
