My dog wasn't supposed to live past his first year but was lucky to receive a 'balloon valvuloplasty' at Michigan State University that saved his life. He is still likely to die from this disease but the surgery has extended his life 5-10 years. We have two doctors, the local vet and MSU heart doctor who work together and are HIGHLY involved in my dogs life. They say I can be proactive and may save his life by monitoring his heart beats and breaths per min, and signs of fluid in the lungs.

I know how you feel my dog is coughing I took her to the vets ASAP the vet said it is an allergy and I'm being over protective. I worked in the vet field for 39 years. The second vet said it was her throat it was sore and to change the harness which I did to a shoulder on it does not touch the neck at all. The third vet said it was a cold and gave her meds she is doing better this round. What school do these vets go to??? mine does not feel it is a big deal either. I pray for your baby.

Respond to this video... shave the area around your dogs heart, and for 10-15 mins a day blast his heart with 1 minute (hot as he can take it) hot water and then 1 minute cold. Finish with either cool to invigorate him or warm to help him relax, it really perks them up and is so good for the heart. You will notice a difference straight away.

Respond to this video... Ok please don't spam me, I don't work for the company or anything. I just came across it when I was researching natural remedies as this is what I do my myself. I came across five leaf pet pharmacy and he has been on this program for over six months now and is great! No medication by vet as I believe that causes more harm that good when you look into it. Another thing you can try absolutely free which works well is hydrotherapy.....

@DannyLrides omg!!! why!? Mine had/has this and we put him on a herbal treatment and he has been great since. Surely research alternatives before putting him down. There are many things to do and my little one seems to be in better health than ever, despite being told to put him down. That is so sad.
awww I just want to cry for your dog =( ...Hope he is doing better ! my dog coughs every now and then for like 2 minutes straight . He has since he was a puppy ( chow ) . Actually I dont know if its a cough or what it is but I always thought he was coughing .

@pornoslut She is doing a lot better. The vet gave us some new meds and since then she hasn't really had one of these fits. *knock on wood* Thanks for asking. I hope your dog just has a cough. It also could be a inward sneeze or something like that (the vet told us about it, I don't remember what its called tho). It sounds like a cough. They don't last that long (2 mins like you said) and there not bad. Its just like something in their nose (hair, fuzz, etc). :)

When ours first started doing this we put him to sleep a couple hours later, it was congestive heart failure and we couldn't stand to to see him on meds and going through surgeries just to see him suffer. We thought it was for the best that we put him to sleep. :(

@DannyLrides @DannyLrides She is going through this again. And its been going on for a 2 weeks now. Thats the longest its ever gone on. She is just doped up on meds 24/7 now. So at this time that does cross my mind. Right now she just doesn't seem happy. But its hard cause when she isn't going through this she has so much energy, like a puppy! I don't really know what to do. The vet we are going to acts like its no big deal(I want to punch her). *next*

@DannyLrides *continue* I am thinking about taking her to a different vet for a second opinion. But the rest of the family is just worried about cost....For me, you cant put a $ sign on my dogs happiness and health. I think part of me is being selfish. I don't want to put her down. I mean I've had her since I was 4 years old. (I'm 20 now). So I don't really remember life with out her in it. So this is all really hard for me. Again, I just don't know what to do....

I hope your doggie is doing better. I think my dog has the same thing, but am not sure.

@krisindc She is doing better, thank you. She just goes through these coughing spells every once in a while. You should take your dog to the vet then. If it is this then that means your dogs lungs are feeling with fluid, and every other organ in your dogs body. Please take your dog to the vet! It could just be a normal cough (cold etc) but even that needs to be taken care of.
