How to embed a video into Powerpoint

if i did this on powerpoint 2010 , would it still be there in 2003 on a different computer?

because i want to complete my school project on powerpoint but would it still play at my school with 2003 being transfered via memory stick ?

I'm afraid not.. I got the vid into the document, but it wouldn't start playing. In the end, I had to use some application from Google instead, to make it work for my online presentation.
