In my opinion this pianist wakes in the morning thinking how much money he is going to spend in his last vacation to mars beacuse she is very beautiful and all the eggs are eaten by the rare dog

In my opinion, this is the greatest piano work ever written. I can see why audiences would demand he played it!

he wrote it that way to have a better possibilitie to put emphasis on the highest note of each hand (they're accented) because these notes belong together, at least that's what rachmaninov probably tought when writing this:)

crossing hands often occurs (seemingly unneccesary) when sequences of notes logically belong together. thats how phrases naturally emerge. you can be sure rach did not intend to "show off" his big hands :-P

He wasn't showing of his hands, it just feels amazing when you play it. I learnt this piece years ago and it still feels like one of the "closest" pieces I have ever played. You can somehow physically feel anguish or pain by having your fingers intertwined. If you play it and memorize it, you'll see what I mean.
