I am from Mexico and I was in Edmonton 30 years ago and I went to a Spoons concert. Since then I have this song in my mind. Thanks for this video...

You're clearly the pessimist here.
The 80's view of the future was like the 50's; misguided and ignorant, flashy and silly.
I think the present and future are unbelievably exciting. I can't understand how its even possible to think for one second that the world isn't exciting and interesting. There is no explanation besides ignoring literally everything in the world.
We've never known, seen, been able to do or feel so much.

@kinglouie1968 You make a very good point. It seems like there was a certain optimism present in the 80's regarding the future that you just can't find anywhere today. From my point of view, as somewhat of a pessimist, the future for this world appears very bleak and dreadful. Let's face it, overpopulation may be the most threatening factor to our survival. And I agree with you 100% regarding the lameness of today. The present is very lame and I think the future holds more of the same.

@Johnnywhamo i think it's our british influence, and let's face it the Brits are the champs for music, punk, new wave, electronica......amazing house dj's.....maybe it's that we smoke a different strand of weed than Americans? maybe....

I love the 80s ideas of the future: lots of neon, glowing geometrical objects, and very long synthesizer chords. Who knew the actual future would be so lame?

Canada and Toronto especially was a hotbed for New Wave bands. CFNY 102.1 THE BEST radio station back in the day. Not sure why but we really accepted new music. I miss those days!
