- First make sure reason is Closed and open up Reaper with a new Project. Save the project and create a new track and click on the Insert FX button.

- Locate Reason Rewire in the Rewire section.

- Click OK, then click the close icon of the FX Chain window. You should see that Reason now opens up. Let it finish starting, then switch back to the Reaper window. You might want to give the track a name like "reason master"

- Go to the IO routing on track Reason Master and deselect Master/parent send. We do this so that we don't get in the way of the reason rewire plugin later.

- Set the track channels to 32 or however many you like.

- then go to the insert FX button again and select audio from ReWire
Set all the track channels to the correct Rewire Output and MUTE the reason master for now.

- Create new tracks and name like the output of reason. Reason 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14, 15 mono 16 mono

- Then go to IO routing on track 1 Reason master and add new sends to all the new tracks
and selecting the correct rewire audio output. Close the IO routing.

Now right click [R]on the Record button and check the menu option for "Record :output (stereo, latency compensated)" for stereo tracks, (mono, latency compensated for mono tracks)

- Go to reason and rewire the mixer outputs to the hardware device.

- Unmute the Reason master track and arm the tracks you want to record. Press Record et voila!

- Mute the Reason master again to listen to the audio.

  • a bit offtop. Did the screen capturing program (whats it called) capture what you were typing (track names) automatically, or did you have to do that with video editing?

  • aye waddup man, I have a question, when im making an instrumental in reason and I press the stop button while playing music rewired into reaper - instead of reaper stopping the playback it asks me to insert a sound from the soundbank instead. The stop button is mapped "keypad 0" in reason, and i have no actions shortcuts setup in reaper to cause an altercation, so what is the problem?

  • @jaymitch23 Gee, i don't know. Never had that problem. But i use the space bar for stopping all my applications...

  • @dhruvdheen Sure you should be able to record the audio in cubase aswell...how it works there, no idea...but i guess it's a lot easier than Reaper...
