This is an updated render of The Ball Machine. The balls are a little easier to see in this version than the old render.

The Ball Machine is a music animation inspired by Animusic. The difference between Animusic's animations and mine is that I don't have software to calculate all the keyframes for me. Everything in my animations is done "by hand."

This animation took about 300 hours and was created using 3ds Max, GarageBand, Photoshop, and iMovie.

  • Did you literally take ever ball and set its path, or is there like a sort of animated 'routine' that you just repeated every now and then?

  • Several balls can share the same path, but the timing of every ball must be animated. The good news is that when the music repeats, I can simply "copy" the animation of those balls that play at that time. All in all, it is pretty tedious though.

  • As an Independant Film maker myself I must congratulate you on the time you put into this! This one blew my mind!! Are these your own original music creations? If so, ever work on a movie soundtrack?

    Keep up the good work!

  • Thanks! Yes, the music is original. A friend and I wrote it.

  • I love the lighting and the supports remind me of a time I went and saw Cirque de Solei with my family. But my favorite part was the music, it is stand-alone awesome and even better with the animation.

  • This is fake. I can see the pixels.

    Seriously though, beautiful work.

  • Great, I make my own animusics too.

  • @dhugger I admire your efforts. Animusic has it easy so I can't commend them for simply playing music and the animation animates the moment they play something I commend you for the work you put into this and harmonic balance. BTW Remember me? I commented a little to much way back when. because you did such a great job your songs are memorable and they remind me of when I started using broadband internet five years ago. After five years your music is nostalgic to me. Good day :)

  • Very Sweet!! Sorry I'm so slow to respond, But I love the Video!

  • Hey, dhugger, do you have a DVD with these on it?

  • @dhugger your music is relaxing have you guys ever consider maybe cd demo or audio surf. but that is just me. you guys do not have a gaming system right. or do you anyone who can help me get my background channel fixed.

  • That's a nice song bro.

  • How do you start an MIDI file? All I've done is download MIDIjam.

  • 2:59, music jizz
