60's pop singer Sylvan and We Don't Belong. Banned by the BBC on its way to the top of the charts in 1965 and recently resurrected on the Dream Babes vol 3 compilation cd of lost and found 60's sounds. Sylvan debuted on Thank Your Lucky Stars on July 28th 1965 and was the only girl singer to spend a weekend on Radio Caroline's Mi Amigo pirate ship after being marooned during a promotional visit. She also co-wrote the lyrics of Delilah for Tom Jones and Love Grows Where Rosemary Goes for the Edison Lighthouse. She is now a Photographer living in Fulham. www.sylvanmason.com

  • Excellent song! I listen it almost everyday....I love the orchestration, and of course, Sylvan's voice. Unfortunatelly there's not many songs like this nowadays.

Thanks Flavio. Glad you enjoy it.

  • In 1966 I was ferrying Sandie to and fro Beat Club in Bremen as she was only 16 and needed a chaperone. (Difficult job!) I was also working for Mike Leckebusch the Producer when he came to London and used to book him and Jocken Rotke into their hotel in Knightsbridge. I had "32nd Floor" out with the Washington DC's who also used to do Beat Club so went out regularly. What a great show that was.

  • Sylvan- I was sifting around for some info on Sandie Sarjeant's incredible German only 45 "Can't Stop The Want" and it seems you may have had a hand in it?! Please confirm....

As always, you continue to amaze!

  • You are always so upbeat and it's good to hear from you Don. Lots of love x

  • Discovered this on the essential Girl Groups boxset a few years ago, and suffice to say my life has not been the same since. Like finding a soulmate in the dark, foggy ocean of life. A big kiss and thankyou Sylvan.

  • A big kiss to you James for such a lovely comment!

  • Incidentally, I just shelled out for the new 8-disc "Story Of Beat Club '65-'68", which features every single episode (inc. "32nd Floor" & plenty of Sandie, of course). Never thought I'd get to see some of the more obscure things- many of which are awesome. Too bad you weren't on plugging your single!

    Love & Respect from MN,

  • I didn't think I was ever going to hear this track again. The DJs on Radio Caroline South played it all the time in the autumn of 1965. I am sure I saw Sylvan sing it at a Radio Caroline disc night at the 100 Club.
