During the Nightshow "Flash Gordon" Smith had his only appearence in his "Shockwave" Top Fuel Funny Car on the Rico Anthes Quartermile at this weekend. Moreover this was the only Nitro Funny Car present at this years' NitrOlympX.

And unfortunately someone was on the way to his seat in front of me just while the burnout....

Hope you enjoy the video nonetheless.

  • are these cars louder than f1 cars?

  • @Woberer

    By far!

You don't just "hear" these machines - whereas one should really wear ear protection - you feel that mighty grunt, this enormous bass which these engines produce - and you obviously cannot capture on tape really - in your groins.

When they put the hammer down the mighty Hockenheim concrete grandstands start to shake like being hit by a little earthquake.

  • @DaSchraadz thanks, unbelievable that there are still people without ear protection, as it seems

  • @Woberer

some of the spectators really don't wear any ear protection and just put their fingers in the ears during burnout and start. But most of them either have their ears stuffed with ear plugs which I think are also handed out for free there or they do wear ear mufflers.

But just to give you one more comparison:

This one Top Fuel engine you see here is able to produce more horsepower than the first 4 rows at the Daytona 500 together...

  • @DaSchraadz 10x more than a F1 car.

  • @xXxMikeDirnTxXx

oh well this depends as we know on humidity and air temperature among other facts. But basically roughly "over the thump" you're right^^
