Clapton's phrasing and sense of dynamic throughout the entire piece is excellent. This is truly when he was at his best.

Stormy monday どうしてもこの演奏が一番好きだなあ…
ブルースブレーカーズのライブの雰囲気を想像しつつ
ぞくぞくしながら聞いたもんよ。
孤独な青春だったわん。

"Clapton and Bruce didn't get together until 4 years later in CREAM"
By your reckoning this would make it 1962, which it isn't. The track posted here was recorded in London's Flamingo Club during April 1966. Mayall intended to release a live album, but the idea was scrapped because the tapes were of poor quality. Jack Bruce is on bass.

Clapton started at that time his "God" carrier. Obsiuosly. That hammond playing minor (!) chords sounds less that horrible!
-
@lens2optic Totally agree with you. His phrasing is awesome on this recording. You are born with that.

@pdshane To be honest I couldn't give a fuck, this for me is Clapton (19 yrs old) at his best, dead exciting
-
@Teelux My guess is London. That is Jack Bruce on bass and he was in the band only in October and November 1965.

@Teelux according to John Mayall this was recorded in a London club in November 1965 when Jack Bruce was in the band. The full line up thus was John Mayall, Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Hughie Flint.
Great tune and solo. What's with the absolutely stupid video clips? Thanks for ruining a great sound track.

I'm truly sorry, and no offense, meant, but while I really did like the Chicago footage, I found the interpersonal conflict stuff rather disturbing... and really detracted from enjoying a classic performance. FWIW.
