Well, an opera is a wonderful kitsch to watch and enjoy while being disgusted by it at the same time. A staged opera is typically a kind of circus done by show-business experts and trained musicians. People cannot expect too much from a staged opera except for watching some good singers sing and breathe nicely.

This was an amazing production. I got to see it live for my birthday, and loved it! The video doesn't do it justice. For those who don't know this opera it's supposed to be over the top and comical.... it's like the Wizard of Oz of opera.

This video doesn't do the production justice. I saw it live and it was an amazing production!

I've seen so many boring and bland, precious FLUTES in Europe and the USA, gorgeous music ofcourse, and in most cases beautifully sung, so anything funny, over the edge in the way of a production is greatly appreciated. I can well imagine that most of you like Mozart as precious and sweet.... but it just 'aint so'....and this looks like lots of fun. Loosen it up, friends, it's ONLY OPERA.

It would be nice if we knew who the singers were although I'm pretty sure that's Matthew Polenzani as Tamino
