  • Hi, I don't know if you still check this video, but will this game work on an American DS?

  • @LenntBear like choas says, they're not region locked.

  • Hi Miko,

I was wondering if you had any English DS game recommendations. By this I mean, games which are designed for English users to learn Japanese. The reason I ask, is that these games are rather difficult to use for beginners, for the reason that all instructions/buttons are in Japanese.

    Cheers

  • unfortunately i don't know any good ones.. whenever i searched for games I got "My Japanese Coach" I don't know how good it is...

Another one I just found is made for little Japanese kids just learning to write. It's called "Anpanman to Asobo A-I-U-E-O Kyoushitsu" which translates to "Play with Anpanman, A-I-U-E-O Classroom" It's in Japanese but it's really easy to use I bet.

  • hey miko. :]

do you think you could provide us with a link or name of that dictionary you're using on the DS? after watching this, i'm getting a DS purely for that dictionary.. but i don't know what it's called.

thanks a ton. this video helped a LOT, like your others. :]

    happy beginning of spring!

  • sure the link is now in the info box.

    the dictionary is called 漢字そのまま楽引辞典

  • Im seriously considering getting a DS from seeing this;

  • daiquirikiss is KING!!! I just stumbled across your blog and youtube stuff. I am not much of a youtuber... BUT I find your videos to be helpful and unassuming-- DESPITE how cool you sound speaking Japanese! I bought the first two "games" since I have recently acquired a cheap (and pleasantly pink) DS to help me study Kanji.

My plans for Japan I think roughly coincide with yours, so I hope you will keep Youtubing and blogging to tell me all about it. Keep up the good work! -Justin

  • I can attest that Kanji Sono Mama is indeed a great, cheaper alternative for any DS owners living in Japan who need to be constantly looking up kanji they can't read. Not sure about people studying the language in their own country, as it's very much designed for Japanese people who need an English dictionary, not vice-versa.

It's cool that it has Game & Watch games hidden in there, and a friend of mine told me it's built in to every Japanese DSi and DSLL.

  • will it work with the DSI XL?

  • on mine dosnt it show up "force" like on yours. is it possibole to change language or something or is it a different type?

  • tanoshi!!!

  • i would suggest that you dye your hair black. you'd look japanse. haha

  • heyy your brief tutorial on kanji sonomama was so good i can actually use it now thanks to you :)
