There has been fierce fighting on the outskirts of Nouakchott, the Mauritanian capital.

Security forces have been battling fighters suspected of having links to al-Qaeda.

Do you want names or just their religious affiliation? In the early 1800s, it was the Christians, not Jews or Catholics or Atheists, in the US who wanted to create a Jewish state in the "promise" land. They spent millions of dollars and sent thousands of missionaries to the Middle East.
