  • This is from 12/6/73 in Largo, Md (outside DC). The venue: Capital Centre. I was there. This is not the Philly show (I was there as well). Yes, this was broadcast over King Biscuit late March 1974. If you have the color photo insert in the original Odds & Sods LP, THIS RECORDING is from THAT concert.

  • this is from Philly. i have the Largo MD show as well and that one has somewhat better quality as well as a few different arrangments. this is from Phillidelphia though. the Who soundboard Recorded both concerts for King biscuit in 73. this also appears on "Tales from the who"

but off that topic, you're a lucky fan to have seen them at those shows

  • These recordings where originally from the king biscuit flour hour from madison square garden.

  • the're from the philly spectrum. there were no madison square garden gigs except for the 4 that they played in 1974, and those recordings are nowhere near as clean as these

  • @amorrisseyprodromu - Whoa! That's so cool! I didn't see then until 1989 and I was kinda dissapointed.

  • @skinheadfunboy i was 17 years old and listening to wnew in ny . Anxiously awaiting the start of this concert. they then announced the week long concerts at MSG...by the way..i had read that pete came in early intentionally. Something about him being angry at roger...

  • Damn Pete! You came in too soon!!! Stepped on Roger's Toes!

  • Shame Townshend came in too soon.

  • @5jerry1 I think the audience were as frustrated as the band. We'd been forced to sit, couldn't even sit on the backs of our seats without some usherette flashing a torch in your eyes. We were all as angry as hell and I don't think we would have left without a full-scale riot happening.

  • @AldoSacslei

Pete has said that he was the band's rhythm player, and John Entwistle, though the bassist, played lead guitar, albeit on bass. Pete's respect for John was unmatched.

  • @mozy1955

When Pete had his "moment" and left the stage, did you think you'd have to go home without seeing the rest of the show? I know they were all irrascable (sp?), especially Townshend, so if I had been there, I would have thought "That's it - we leave now." It's good they came back on, though.

  • TT_TT they came to Phili but I was born but I was 26 years late... The fact they came to the city I live right outside of during their Prime but I couldn't see because I wasn't born will haunt me the rest of my life

  • I saw them in Newcastle (UK) 5 Nov 73. The tapes started slowing so Townshend went berserk, ripped out the tapes, beat up Bob Pridden, kicked John's horn into the orchestra pit, ranted at the audience and strode off stage. The rest of the band looked at each other bewildered then the safety curtain came down. After 20 minutes, we could hear Keith's claves - Magic Bus! We went mad, security were flung into orchestra pit, guitars and drums were smashed. Brilliant. But I never got to see Quad live.

  • @amorrisseyprodromou who gives a fuck where its from, its fuckin brilliant!
