@erikid1 I would disagree. If you buy in season, farmers markets are competitive if not cheaper. They are fresher, containing denser nutrients, which in the long run will help in medical bills. The reason beef and commercial is so cheap is due to government subsidies. Beef is on sale for over 50% off due to government help. So imagine doubling the cost of meet, from McDonalds to Steaks, that would give you the real cost.

@mariss711 "you cant put it all on Al Shabab"
In the case of Somalia? Well dam sure for that one!
That the US is on the verge of setting up a another Talibanesque religious loony regime is equally disturbing.
The terminator seeds have been stoped in yurop due to civil society and not due to armed thugs destroying the whole infrastructure....
If the "sane" religious ppl´d step up it could help certainly but as it seems to me only the real loonies have a say lately.

@bluefootedpig yea i concur but those produce that comes from local farms and organic foods are still to expensive for most people though

I always find it funny when these storys break about the largest recall of meat. When will people raelize no amount of government will solve this flaw with the system. Buy local, buy organic, buy from farms that take care of their food, and you don't have this case. I can't remember any news about how a local farm had it. So if you want to stop disease from spreading, stop the 50 million a year getting sick, stop buying shit and you won't eat shit.
