There is a difference between being depressed and suffering from depression. One is an emotion, the other is an illness.
Say for example, if someone likes to drink alot, versus someone who is convinced they NEED to drink. One is a disease, the other is a habit that they take to excess.
Alcoholism is a chemical dependancy, where the body convinces itsself that it needs alcohol just like it needs food, or oxygen. Mental illness is alot different.

Yeah and the chemical imbalance is caused by being sad all the time which reduces serotonin output.
