Isle Of Wight Steam Railway Stock + Engine No24 'Calbourne' at Newport Station IOW in May 1970. The Stock moved to Havenstreet in January 1971 whereafter Newport Station was demolished to make way for a new road.

Filmed on 8mm Kodakachrome 2 with Zeiss Ikon

  • Yes, filmed with my mother's Zeiss Ikon. It was Grey in colour, rectangular in shape & it had a built in exposure meter which I think you controlled with the left hand.

  • Not entirely true - Newport Station existed for some time after track was torn up as a Red Star Parcels depot. IWCC and a road orientated county surveyor used compulsory purchase order to buy and demolish it. Eventually this same council would build a "relief road to relieve a relief road" at Coppins Bridge because they couldn't get £26 million to build a Medina Crossing.

  • I remenber slipping in a waggon returning from the 1970 isle of wight festival may be it was this place , we were hundreds did'nt know where to sleep ;

  • was this filmed with the zeiss that looks a bit like a stills camera?
