The following scene is from the New Zealand production of The Laramie Project and takes place in the court room as Dennis Shepard, Mathews father, address Aaron McKinney (charged with the hate crime) The Laramie Project is an amazing play by Moisés Kaufman and members of the Tectonic Theater Project about the reaction to the vicious murder of University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming. The murder is widely considered to be a hate crime motivated by homophobia.
this was very well done

Beautifully done. I am a peaceful activist for equality, social justice, and human rights. Matthew's story has been a part of my story, too...and he and his family live in the hearts of millions worldwide who will not abide hate, in themselves or others.

@eioval1000 The fight began before Matthew but it must be a fight, the time for sitting around singing songs and hoping for the best is WAY PAST OVER!!!
I lost the love of my life 10 years ago when he was beaten in a parking lot because we had a PRIDE flag and an HRC sticker on the car. His homophobic parents legally prevented me from visiting him in hospital AND stopped me from attending his funeral. My beloved died alone, his "parents" were on vacation.
STOP THE BULLSHIT NOW!!!!!

I have to disagree with Bullet19465. I watched this live and it was incredibly moving. The emotion that was put into this scene was very real. Well done!!

@bullet19465 That's the scene however. In the script, he is in a court room, giving a statement. He can't move, that would be illogical to the setting.

I played the judge in this scene at california's glendale college back in 2003 and this was the hardest scene to watch (except for my scene as Rulon Stacey announcing Matthew's death). I liked this guy; very good. I teared up every time we performed this scene.

Not Bad! I was in Laramie Wyoming in October and the whole perception of Mathew Shepard is still pretty strong, but they feel sad that the whole town had been tainted by the actions of some...
