Then Merry stooped and lifted his hand to kiss it, and lo! Théoden opened his eyes, and they were clear, and he spoke in a quiet voice though laboured.
"Farewell, Master Holbytla!" he said. "My body is broken. I go to my fathers. And even in their mighty company I shall not now be ashamed. I felled the black serpent. A grim morn, and a glad day, and a golden sunset!"

  • The redemption of King Théoden at the Battle of the Pélennor Fields is one of my favorite moments in the film trology. No more dining on ashes for Théoden son of Thengel...his valor renewed & his honor restored he is now able to die full of grace. HAIL THE VICTORIOUS DEAD!

  • the only movie ever made in which ever single minute of film is literally EPIC,

    a masterpiece

  • Poor Eowyn, with him dying, i bet she felt as though she'd lost everything

  • @ArgosySpecOps HAIL!

  • the pure raw emotion in her wail brought me to snivelling tears in the theatre with mascara and nose running like a faucet!!

  • Oh, these movies! Truly, we shall not see their like again in our lifetimes.

  • @ArgosySpecOps Lo there do i see my father, lo there do I see my mother and my sisters and my brothers, lo there do i see the line of my people, back to the beginning, lo do they call to me, they bid me come and take my place among them, in the halls of valhalla, where the brave may live forever

  • One of the most epic scenes in the trilogy. Very moving.

  • HAIL THE VICTORIOUS DEAD!!!!!!
