Pet rat on a giant exercise wheel

Our pet fancy rat, Oreo, loves to take an occasional spin on our K'nex ferris wheel. The wheel is 6 feet in diameter, and can be electrically powered, but in this video it is 100% rat-powered. We edited out the nice bits where he stopped to clean himself.

We added a little ramp and platform so he could board the ride easier. It may look like the wheel is not spinning naturally, and that's because the unpowered motor provides enough friction so the wheel comes to a rather quick stop when Oreo stops running. If the motor was not engaged, the wheel would spin very fast and free, making it hard for Oreo to stop. For K'nex builders, this wheel has about 9,000 pieces, and is based on the giant ferris wheel kit K'nex used to sell (rat not included).
