Lines at the gas pump and rationing...
You piss your pants just because gas cost a little more... Just read up on how people had to wait in line for hours only to get not a full tank but 10 gallons and the pump shut off...

No president has ever been able to fix everything. It's unfortunate if Carter won the presidency we would be further along than where we are now. I know many didn't like him but I firmly believe if he had more charisma and drive he could have gotten re-elected and would have done better than Reagon. Just a theory of course. :)
