3D means your flying in 3 dimensions (Right side up, upside down, and hovering) 4D adds the knife edge to these dimensions so you have 4 dimensions of flight. Even though many planes called 3D are perfectly capable of 3D and 4D flight it is usually planes with side force generators that are considered 4D because they add a substantial amount of lift so you can fly knife edge all day without worrying about it like my showtime. Even high alpha knife edge is possible with sfg's side force gen.....

WRONG! 4D is with a VPP prop, things like hovering nose down and flying backwards.
