"Christianity as it relates to most christians is about what good awaits if one accepts Jesus, NOT about what evil awaits if you don't."

of course the practitioners of a religion will focus on the attractive aspects,

hell is not very attractive. on the other hand they are always trying to "save your soul" so yeah, hell(eternal torture) plays a huge role in christianity...

muslims preach peace, except when they ask for infidels(particularly jews) to be killed...

  • @DrMadolite

"No as I said before, when you die, you die."

the one thing all(when i say "all" i mean it in the loosest possible sense) christians seem to agree on is that if you reject jesus and you die, you will be tortured in hell forever.

if you dont accept that premise then my "gun to the head" point is meaningless, as you arent being threatened with eternal torture for disobeying.

  • @sabin97 No as I said before, when you die, you die. The torture you feel from rejecting your own inner potentials in life (which IMO is represented through the story of Jesus, but I'm open to being wrong, as I can't discarded that possibility), is exclusive to life. At least that's how I see things. Other can speak for themselves.

  • @DrMadolite

i still am not clear about something

do you think there's eternal torture awaiting those who die that have rejected jesus as their personal saviour?

  • @sabin97 No I understood your point completely, but you need to ask yourself who has come to the conclusion that God has a free will and that he's in fact saying "obey me or else". It's the people who read the bible literally.

God is a character in a book (or multiple books). What he actually refers to in real life, is completely up to the reader of those books.

  • @DrMadolite

i think you misunderstood my point

the gun to the head thing was about the "free will" the god of the bible is attributed

the "obey me or else" thing with the constant threat of eternal torture in the afterlife...

do you believe there is eternal torture coming for those who dont accept jesus as their personal saviour?

it wasnt about what bible followers(semi-followers, as some seem to not follow what they dont like about that book).

    so

  • @sabin97 NOT engaging in a behaviour? not sure I follow, wasn't your whole point that the Bible causes people to do certain acts because it tells them to?
