  • I thought my stick figure art was good when I was 11. If only he didn't die so young, imagine all the addition great pieces he could have offered the world.

  • The music is beautiful – I can imagine Apollo and Hyacinthus playing discus to it or reclining in a meadow while the god tells his beloved the secrets of the sun, stars, music, prophecy and poetry. But I can also see Apollo crying over Hyacinthus’ body after he dies. Such a tragic yet sweet myth.

  • Η όπερα Απόλλων και Υάκινθος γράφτηκε το 1767 από τον Βόλφγκανγκ Αμαντέους Μότσαρτ, όταν αυτός ήταν 11 ετών και αποτελείται από τρεις πράξεις. Το θέμα της όπερας είναι βασισμένο σε έναν αρχαίο ελληνικό μύθο, όπως αυτός παρουσιάστηκε από το λατίνο ποιητή Οβίδιο στο αριστούργημά του Μεταμορφώσεις. Το λιμπρέτο έχει γράψει ο Ρούφινους Βιντλ. Η πρώτη παρουσίαση της όπερας έλαβε χώρα στις 13 Μαΐου 1767, στην Αίθουσα Τελετών του Πανεπιστημίου του Σάλτσμπουργκ.

    This is yet another example of how even a mediocre interpretation of even a mediocre work of a truly great composer can't mar the solid, balanced and rich logic of the otherwise modest composition lying in the score.
