TPiR 9/21/09: The Beginning...Not So Good

So today's show, if it wasn't a season premiere, would have gone immediately into the "absolutely forgettable, see you tomorrow" bin. That said, there are several nice, new things to notice in this video, like WoF last week, if you ignore the gameplay:

-New light border
-New logo animation
-New set (d'oh)
-New LCD screens on CR bid displays
-New Plinko reveal with GREAT shot (DiPirro: strong always)

Also note the opening was shortened, at least the Bob Barker part was not removed. Of course, you have to laugh at the 2nd bid of the season there.

And now, I will rant in one sentence on the setup of Plinko, despite L7 being significantly easier than it has been:

WHY IN THE WORLD, ON A SEASON PREMIERE ESPECIALLY BUT ANYTIME AS WELL, WOULD ANY RIGHT-MINDED PERSON MAKE ALL FOUR SMALL PRIZES "STARTS WITH"?

It's hardly the first time the Plinko small prizes were all "Starts with" or all "Ends with"... maybe ten times when Bob Barker was host?

All "ends with" is absolutely fine, because that's what most people pick most often. 4 "starts with" is an incredibly hard setup that definitely should not be there on a season premiere.

Fair enough, if that's your opinion... but "starts with" and "ends with" aside, those small prizes weren't even very difficult to guess at... :-)

For us maybe (I did get 3/4 right) but contestants pick "ends with" very very often.

I love this new set & the new Plinko intro shot, but where the "Star of the Price is Right" at the intro?

2:40 - I saw an Impala LS. I have been in one before when I was in San Francisco except it was a midnight blue one. I was not happy with it. I was sick of being in there because it did not have remote start, compass directions, and a weather station. I own an Impala LT and that is way better than the LS. If I saw an SS Impala, I will drive it. If you hate all of the videos there, then unsubscribe!

I hate this new set from season 38 since I don't watch it anymore! Bad move! I love the old set a lot better when Bob Barker used to do that back in the day.

Beginning halfway in April 2010, the cameras no longer make a turn around to the closeup when a contestant comes to the Turntable area. The cameras slight move to the left of the center of the audience and the One Bid, just like the contestant comes to the center of the stage.

I wish they would bring back the part where Rich says " Stay tuned for more pricing games and the fabulous showcases which are coming up on the 2nd half of The Price is Right "

I hope in the future episodes, the One Bid (Contestants' Row) displays might show The Price Is Right logo of their contestants until the contestant in question makes a bid (like the insignias in Veterans Day in November 2009). I wanna see The Price Is RIght logo in each of the Contestants' Row displays, please.

The Price Is Right logo might display in the future episodes for the One Bid rounds until a bid is placed in them as it did from the Veterans Day episode from November 2009.
