@nzccm There's nothing about him that's a fraud, he's just doing this weird/smart thing.. Selling a story with art/music etc. generates interest and will give you more success. Googling around you'll find a lot of people saying "hey I know that dude, he recorded my band! why's he talking like that?"

@Dukov2234 That would be pretty mean.. anyone with google can look into it.. and like I said who cares?? If you like the music, that's all that matters.. I'm stoked for him.. I was just tripping out on seeing him like that!! The southern accent is way toned down in more recent interviews.. If you want 100% real deal from the states/olympia go with Beth Ditto! She's the best!

great guy

@Dukov2234 Right.. sorry :P.. Look I'm not hating on him.. but this interview is insane if you ever met him in the states.. this is what it is.. a character and very cleaver marketing tactic.. All the best to him and his success.

What's brilliant is creating an "authentic" character to better sell "authentic" music. Starting out with a fake accent, throwing in poverty poses, telling hard knock life stories.. His marketing has successfully roped people overseas that are hungry for roots "authenticity" and either can't tell or don't care to tell if there is a difference. Makes me think of Disneyland, actually.. The music itself is subjective - he can play, he's capable. But he's been insanely successful at marketing it.

@Dukov2234 About what?

Depends on what you think of fake I guess. I do remember him owning Moon Music in Olympia WA and Driving a fancy Range Rover, no accent or bad grammer at all.. He created this character . WHO CARES! Lots of people do it..

Who cares? He's a nice guy, he's doing well for himself. Everyone else in the music business are fakers anyway. He's a cool guy, player haters will hate on anyone that they're jealous of.
