He's so fascinating. Great interview.

I recently discovered Derren's acts and have become a huge fan, yet this video shows he's quite intelligent as well a great performer. What he says is a perfectly lucid argument against religious dogma; he sort of reminds me of Sam Harris here.

Urgh, fuck you Channel 4.
-
@jv8999 he speaks very clearly and fluently, in a relaxed manner
-
@musefan1011985 In all fairness, he was doing this for a show so he was only asking him about topics that relate to the show (ie spiritualism, psychics, mediums etc).
-
@jv8999 ditto. like some great actors, pacino or brando springs to mind, you're just completely drawn to them. that said i think this interview was a little disappointing. two great minds, great skeptics with different perspectives, and they've just talked about stufff that they both immediately agree on. i don't think they've reached any interesting conclusions at all.

i think Derren is at his best when looking at things like this, he just looks a bit evil when he shows how susceptible people are by making them do crazy things but he's done amazing work, especially, i think, in miracles for sale.

of your limits

@muhhest you can't understand but guess the reasons by which many people to you hate him or dislike him unless it's your own understanding of hating him or disliking him, then is it really your idea. he may be an elitist when he recognizes that the idea of everyone having an equal amount potential is false from experience of himself and his ability to use what intelligence he has through ignorance of igrnorance to reassure him of his resolve and rationale. elite is an identity for easy.
there's something extremely magnetic about Derren Brown. I could listen to him speak for hours

@achlysism That would be fine if philosophers and theologians would do the same. When they make claims like a man was born of a virgin, humans were created by a divine power and humans can talk to the "spirits" of the dead, they trample all over the realm of the physical world and the laws of science. In American, they even wish to teach creationism in schools in place of the scientifically sound theory of evolution! As a scientist, Dawkins rightly refutes these claims as nonsense.
