Jean Sibelius (1865 - 1957): Romance op. 24, no. 9.
Despite a few Arthur's videos ready to be up, I chose to post this one first.
A few weeks ago, when Arthur was going through the first couple of rounds sight reading of this piece, I was not quite sure about this then. Listening to those discontinuous big chords played under his little fingers, I asked him: "are you sure you can do it? does it sound like an interesting piece at all? " "Yes, Mum. It's a good one. I will show you". He was so certain, even at that time, and he proved himself quite soon. This is the first work from Sibelius I have carefully listened to, from this young boy. Along the movement of his finger tips, the music starts, develops and flows into my mind, I felt I can't help sweating ... Until now it remains unanswered what was on his mind when he was telling me that this is a great composition, when he just started learning it. This practice is not perfect yet. I decided to have it posted here as a record for his future reference. This will help me remember what he has achieved and what he might want to look forward to. Many thanks to his teacher's wonderful choice!
Thanks for watching! Comment welcome as always! I will try to respond to the comment; however, in the case I could not, I want you to know that we sincerely appreciate your time and input!

@aawpiano2007 You can be very proud of Arthur. He is a fine young man with good manners and obvious intelligence and responsiveness to teachers + those around him. I hope he will keep healthy and safe and get a good all-round education as well as his music. I hope he will enjoy a creative + satisfying family life also.

I have watched Arthur's Sibelius video already twice today + think I will watch twice more to make two thousand if the computer counter is right. I have loved the music of Sibelius fifty + years, + Athur is a delightful musician + personality. He should try making + playing piano transcriptions from the symphonies especially #2 in D + #3 in C. Best wishes

I enjoy Arthur's performance of this Sibelius D Flat piano romance. He keeps the rhythm going and well organized and has crescendo and decresendo effects at appropriate points. I am rather intrigued, Arthur, by the way you slide left and right on the seat - it seems to work. Keep up your music - best to you and your family and teachers.

Arthur, what ever made you select that piece to learn? It must have been a nightmare to get to the stage you have it now. Certainly a challenge, but then it seems you like to give yourself a challenge.. You get lots of stars from me for a terrific effort.

Arthur's ability to perform such a challenging piece at his very young age is, simply put, remarkable!
