This is a short instructional video by TaZ101SAGA, demonstrating the correct way to load a Lee-Enfield stripper/charger clip.

NOTE: The firearm and cartridges displayed in this video have been correctly deactivated under UK law and are incapable of discharging any shot, bullet, or missile.

DE-ACTIVATED ARMS: It is an offence under the VCR act to attempt to re-activated a deactivated firearm. De-activated weapons are purely for display or re-enactment purposes. It is against the law to use them for anything except these two reasons.

  • I used to use the over and under method but for the past few months have been sticking with the method shown in the video, which is also how I always loaded my Mosin clips. Works like a charm! Two clips can be loaded into the mag in less than 5 seconds, combined with the beautiful smoothness of the Enfield bolt just shows how such effective mad minutes can be had with these rifles. Also if the occasion rim jam comes about, I find just smacking the bolt forward with authority does the trick :)

  • @NormanMatchem Thank you sir, glad you found it helpful.

  • its not so much the locking into battery part that is the issue, but its the fact the the bolt will actually slide of over the bullets in the magazine and not catch the rims of the bullets. also, as far as i know this rifle is not pre WWII date it was made in 1951 however, that might not mean that the bolt (or other mismatched parts) are not from earlier dates....

  • @justinsparks888 It probably doesn't matter too much if the parts are mismatched, a bit of tension modification on the spring should get it to feed. If you are having any problems with head space, i would take it to someone who knows the ropes.

  • ? for all What does "ROF" stand for on my ENfield?

  • Forgot to mention, I find SMLE because the Ross is chambered for .303 also

  • I look on youtube to find how to properly load a Ross rifle with a stripper clip because it has no guides but all I find is SMLE. Dammit. Good video though. I will try this method if I ever get an Enfield

  • The over-under method works whichever way the cip is inserted into the mag.

If you are tired and stressed, you may not have time to orientate the clip correctly.

    Hence the over-under method.

  • This seems painfully logical to me - why would you want to load a clip "over and under"? In the end, the rounds should slide neatly off one another, top one first. Why would you load a clip any other way?

  • I love his voice!!! it reminds me if Alex from A Clockwork Orange

  • @Eddythebandkid Yes. The clip will be pushed free.

  • ok, well i taped the magazine so it doesn't move and took the gun to the shooting range...i made a video response to this video, notice how it does not fire on the 4th cycle...thats cause the bolt slides over the bullet and i chambered nothing
