This was filmed at " Island Guitars " in Honolulu. Special thanks to Mike and John for letting me play the guitar and letting me film this video . .This guitar is a mixture of a few guitars that the Gibson at Kalamazo did .Also the Sweet 16 resembles an L 4 ces ( Cutaway Electric Spanish ) guitar
The lower bout is 16' just like an ES 175 but it is thin like a D'Aquisto and similar to the Johnny Smith also in the Neck and Pickguard holding the single pickup and it having ONE knob ( Volume ) ..But also this guitar is similar to a guitar that Gibson made called the " Kalamazoo Award " guitar ..The Kalamzoo was made in memory of the GOLDEN DAYS of Gibson in Kalamazoo. This Sweet 16 isn't as Fancy looking BUT it looks very much like it in many ways. The Kalamzoo was like a cross between a Gibson Citation guitar and a Johnny Smith guitar
Hi Ken,
Is the top solid spruce or laminate? Back and sides solid Maple? Heritage makes some fine instruments.
