The essence of hipster artfags and their condescending attitude. Apparently, they existed back then too. Very good. Today, you see them wearing ironic facial hair and ironic t-shrits while listening to the Animal Collective and talking down to you.

  • Seriously, being a music lover and a kind of scholar of it (which many of us are) because we feel passionate about it does not make us hipsters.

  • @TheParanoidAndroid1 No, it makes someone a hipster when they are a snob about it, or are in fact not scholarly at all but just close minded and pretentious.

  • On a side note, Captain Beefheart's "Safe As Milk" Is an amazing album. And Animal Collective are totally boss.

  • Blah, your description is horrible. I mean I love this movie, but your description of hipsters is so stereotypical. And animal collective? C'mon man, they're an alt. entry level band, everybody knows them, same with vampy weeks pashy pits and MGMT.

  • @ELGELGELG

You sir/maam, are truly scholarly and I don't mean that as a jest.

  • the "dink" noise you hear at 0:19 is the sound of the vinyl being dropped clumsily into the sleeve, the perfact way to cause a seam split - the most ugly record sleeve tear that any vaguely fussy record nerd totally hates. seam splits are so ugly!

    sincerely , a record nerd

  • People who get mad about hipsters have serious self-esteem issues. Seriously, who cares what they think of your taste in music, or what you think of theirs? Like what you like!

  • labeling people is demeaning and doesn't do anything but promote controversy. but if you self label yourself a hipster it would seem to me that you need comfort in numbers. if nobody liked animal collective, could you, would you? Neutral milk hotel is horrid , I mean the guy can't even record a guitar without it clipping. dude it was intentional. yep alright. but if it does touch at some personal level, good for you. i mean it. good for you. but let it be real. otherwise you only fool yourself.

  • @ThennyDlux cool story

  • @Feuyaer it is the frustration of the hipster of so many people's inability to see things clearly...that what a hipster describes and lives is that of irony that many so called hipsters do not themselves understand. the mainstream notion that people are snobs because they hate those who don't get it is the very thing that has kept understanding from its own victory. hipsters want you to know why they love or hate something. don't hate a hipster...love them for what you have yet to learn

  • apparently i was a hipster before it was cool

  • Ok, so, here's my opinion on "hipsters". Get mad if you want, I don't really care. Hipster isn't a real thing. It's something you call someone who likes music you don't like. It's someone who dresses in a way that annoys you. It's someone who enjoys movies you haven't seen or don't like. It is a general insult, and has no actual manifestation. How do I know this? Because no one's definition of hipster is the same. It's like the word "jerk" or "douche." No actual meaning. So, quit fuckingbitching
