@scrap1005 no, you don't understand... when I say it coldboots Ubuntu in less than 8 seconds, I don't mean a SE version, with nothing in it. You can do this without any tweaks, even after installing a bunch of software on it. On the other, if you start loading Win7 with a bunch of software (especially on a NTFS drive), the system will lag horribly. Ext4 doesn't allow that, so... :/

@LuigiPeach, Try windows XP in 7. It can be done and it's a full windows rather than a tiny shell of an OS like Ubu.. Also I've heard of people loading windows 7 in 10 secs. Better SSD's will beat these records as well.

@CAJUNNSC because win 7 doesn't load the same way as XP or Vista does. Also I've had all three and win 7 really is a lot faster. Win 7 will slow some with more programs, but not as much as the others for some reason. I have 30 programs and can load win 7 in 15 seconds. XP would be like 35 with all those programs loaded.

lol 21sec for boot... Ubu10.04 boots in 8 sec on a hp notebook with a SSD drive ^^

Your Windows 7 startup animation seems Vista-like, how did you do this?
I don't see the swirling orb Windows animation.

Wow, Vista takes that long even on the SSD? The SSD doesn't seem to help Vista at all.
Why are so many people so sure about how well Win 7 start up time will compare once you've loaded the 10-20 additional programs to your new machine running 7? Apparently no one thinks they will be adding any new programs to their system. New systems always run a lot faster prior to loading them down with additional programs, tools and graphics... management tools and software, audio codecs and drivers and video players and adobe readers PDF editing ...and so on! Let's wait and see!

I did have a fair few things installed if you look at the video description. The main point of the SSD is it doesn't suffer from loading loads of apps anywhere near as badly as a mechanical drive. My build is still booting and running just as quickly now as it did two months ago when i made the video.

sorry, youtube crapped out last time i tried to leave a comment, and i forgot to come back :) Basically it was an unintended side effect of enabling Test driver signing mode when i was getting ATiTool set up
