Short test of a CGI animated UFO from the Gerry Anderson 1970 show of the same name. The UFO was created from scratch in "Google Sketchup" 3D app exported as a two frame looped animation with Green background in to "StopMotion Maker" to create a 10 sec piece of footage which was then matted against a "Star Trek" Type Public Domain Warp drive Starfield using Pinnacle Studio 9. Finally the sound of the UFO was added. I played around with the digital overlay effects in Pinnacle studio and added a couple of explosions and moved the UFO around with pan and Zoom tool. pretty neat.

  • Thans for the detailed info on how to do it. Good work. I am using Pinnacle 14

  • @maxsmodels Thanks ! I did this about 4 yrs ago and unfortunately haven't had much time to take any further. Your video was pretty cool. Did you check out Sketchup? I created an interceptor model on there too as well as a few Irwin Allen SF Models. But again did those a few years ago.

  • I did check out sktech up. I am having trouble figuring out how to capture the animation for use in Pinnacle but it is a cool tool I just did a few screen grabs for a couple of quick and dirties that should be posted later tonight.

    Cheers

  • lol i like the fact that you went through all the trouble to animate with stop motion pro and google earth.. you should get caligari truespace3, it's a freeware version and i think its a lot better than sketchup.. if nothing else you won't have to animate each frame :D

  • the thorough detailed description is what enforced my decision to be amazed by this video. Good job!
