  • The 2nd Law of Thermodynamics says the "natural flow" of the universe is toward MORE entropy, not less.

However, Tom says we're here to "naturally" create LESS entropy - to "evolve" through love.

That sounds very nice but no natural system physically works that way. If it did, we would already have perpetual motion machines.

    Sorry, it just doesn't compute.

  • @goog2k ,

Of course you are correct. What you missed is that consciousness is not a physical system. Information systems reduce entropy by better organization of the bits (more signal and less noise). A self-aware consciousness system that also is a non physical digital information system evolves by reducing its entropy. The second law applies only to the average entropy of physical systems.

  • @schmod100

Somebody was distracting themselves when they should have been listening ;)

But btw I too come from a background of Terence McKenna research. It was the questions that he filled my head with that lead me directly to Tom.

  • What the hell is the cameraman doin?!!!!!!!

Hold the damn camera STILL mate!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @goog2k From what I understand, 'entropy' in information theory is distinct from its use in thermodynamic theory. I believe its even used in some sort of medical practise thing lol.

  • @twcjr44 Well, again that all sounds very nice. However, I think you're using physical laws, like the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics, to extrapolate something into 'non-physical'.

This becomes misleading and meaningless because you are hypothesizing principles and laws that have never been tested.

    I don't question your good intentions, but I couldn't get past # 4.

Could you please summarize your conclusions?

  • To me....this also corroborates Terrence McKenna's Time Wave theory

  • that laundry basket in the other room keeps moving around by itself

  • Kinda suspected the universe is some type of dynamic mirage. Consciousness the hardware and matter the software. Great uploads!
