This is me playing a song I wrote a few years ago, using almost entirely two handed tapping. I recorded the 3 main sections separately. My timing for the 1st section isn't great.

I played it on my 6-string Stambaugh custom bass, but aside from the very last notes, it's played entirely on the top 4-strings (ADGC). So you could still play it (down a 4th) on a 4-string bass.

  • This is such a pretty song with the C string.

When you played this on your other video, with your ken Lawrence 5 string, did you just move an octave, or?...

I only have a 5 string, and im trying to learn this by ear.

  • I played it down a 4th on my KL 5-string. I originally wrote in standard tuning on a 4-string, so for this video I just transposed everything up a 4th to make use of the C string.

  • That bass is really nice. Do you have any other vids of it?

  • Yeah, lots. Search for 'GBagley Stambaugh' and you should find them all.

  • exelente!!!!!

  • is that a phase shifter i hear? or wah? or a flanger at 1:24?

  • for 2 handed tapping stuff like this, is there any way that i should go about it? normally if i try anything 2 handed tapping, i get fret-buzz and the sound of the string slapping the frets, i haven't experimented much with it, but im just looking for some expert advice.

  • thats awesome check out some of our stuff

  • how many fingers are you using to tap on your right hand?

  • So uhmm.... where is your cult following, and where do i sign up?

  • @DayleKT My action is pretty low, but turning down the treble helps a lot! (Especially on my bass [Cort Curbow 6], and not so much on my amp.)

  • @UltimateNeoHunter Yes, probably, it's relatively new for me. It's almost like learning to play another instrument , like the piano.

  • @gitaresco It sounds like you also need to build up finger strength to get tapped notes to sound cleanly.

  • @gitaresco lower/raise your action, and maybe turn down the treble?
