Note 8.22.2011 - I took this video 2.5 month after training in Muay Thai. I definitely had ways to go and I believe I have improved quite a bit compared to this so for those with constructive feedback, thank you. I'm going to train in Thailand in the coming weeks and will probably even improve some more. Once I'm good, I will post a better video. Consider this as progress video.

Disclaimer: this is not power drill, this is speed drill so speed takes precedence over power. Form is always important but I have a few bad habits that I need to correct. It's interesting to see my form the first time in a camera, now I know what my coach is talking about.

Here is the way we do speed drill. One interval = 60 sec. Since we hold bag for each other so this means 60 sec speed , 60 sec rest while you are holding for the other person. If you don't have bag, you can also do shadow boxing with this (and just double the time and the intensity).

Interval 1: slide inside leg kick (61 reps)
Interval 2: inside leg kick (58 reps)
interval 3: body round kick (64 reps) - left
interval 4: body round kick (61 reps) - right
Interval 5: Head kick (35 reps) - left
Interval 6: Head kick (35 reps) - right
interval 7: Teep/push kicks (56 reps) - left
interval 8: Teep/push kicks (50 reps) - right
interval 9: Shuffle body round kicks - 35 reps (so tired at this point)

  • Great job if you are doing this for not so long yet! Traind hard and you'll be better, I can see potential in you and a lot of fighting spirit :). Oh one little tip, think about your defense while kicking ;). Always think about defense when attacking.

  • @Nanniechan yes, this was taken after training in Muay thai for 2.5 months. I have come a long way since this video. I believe I improve quite a bit. This video is kind of embarassing but it's also a good reminder of how I started and how I have come along since then :). Thanks for your kind comment

  • i dont know if this is a speed drill...but you need to turn your hips more

  • @bignmonkey yep, I have improved quite a bit since I did this video. I did 100 kicks against heavy bag almost every day since then, I do use more hips and all shins now.

  • fighting spirit ...kicking a bag with fury is not fighting spirit

  • USE a Heavy bag what you are using is rocking way to much

  • Keep up the practice. Turn you hips more and hit with your shin. I always make sure my foot is facing downward to prevent the urge to do a snap kick.

  • the training have pay off lol keep up the good work
