  • I love this! Im actually doing the steps with u! Im pausing and meSuring and drawing with u.

  • @aliciasy156 Thanks for watching! There is a link to much better written instructions with a diagram for making a pants pattern in the info section of this video. Note that the instructions are in centimeters so when it says go down 2.5 cms for example make sure you use cms and not inches. But the rest of the calculations you can do in inches if you want to. Most tape measures have both inches and centimeters on them.

  • @fettuccinetube I notice that you used centimeters for your measurements. i normally use inches and i was wondering if i still had to divide and stuff if i use inches? would my pants still turn out fine

  • @SweetEnvy010 Yes, that would work too. Thanks for watching!

  • Fabianna your videos are great and you are an excellent teacher!!! I wanted to ask if it was possible to make a pattern out of a pair of pants that I really really like?

  • @bi8autiful Definitely! The best way is, if the pants are old and you do not want to use them anymore is to rip out all the seams and trace the pieces, then sew them together the same way as the pants were sewn together. If they are pants you still use kind of trace and measure the different pieces as best you can. Don´t forget to take into account the seam allowances.

  • Your video ir amazing! I was desperately looking for a how-to-make pant and now I've found it. Thank you! :)

And of course, the edit on the video is simple, clear and nice, and you explanation is clear, (subs helped me a lot ;) )

  • @letmecomment2 The "mistake" was that I didn´t subtract what I took from the front thigh and added to the back. That is one of the reasons my muslin test pant was loose. But also because I sewed the muslin pant using smaller seams than I calculated. In "real" patternmaking you´re supposed to add seam allowances after the basic pattern is already made by tracing or cutting with a margin. But these are things a beginner can learn later. My goal is to take the "fear factor" out of sewing.
