A Joe & Jenna Romance; Chapter 9

Jenna continues her smile, "Yeah, I feel the same way. Hopefully Joe will pack up the courage to marry me one day." She laughs blissfully. Joe overhears this and sneaks back to where Kevin, Nick, Andrea, and Sean are. Jenna and Andrea head back to where they are. Jenna sees a frightened Joe.

Jenna gives Joe a quick peck on the lips, "What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost or something. What's up?" Joe shakes his head, "No, nothing is wrong. Everything is great. JUST GREAT." Jenna is confused, but just nods slowly. "Uh, if you say so, babe." She smiles at him and he smiles back, awkwardly.

Sean says, "When is grandma going to come home?" Nick tears up at Sean's cute voice, wondering why his grandma is sick. Andrea puts a hand to her heart, feeling deep sorrow for the brothers. Jenna takes Nick's place, "Sean, honey, grandma is really sick, but we're hoping she gets better. Right now, there is nothing we can do. Just hope she can come home one day..." Nick thanks Jenna silently with his eyes. He feels too saddened to explain to his son. Jenna smiles at Nick and kisses Seans beautiful, curly-haired head.

The doctor comes up to Kevin and says, "Mr. Kevin Jonas, you should all just leave. There isn't anything you can do for your mother, right now. You won't be allowed to see her for a while. She's under special treatment and the least you can do is give her a peace of mind, by getting some rest." Joe tears up all over again. Jenna can't bear to see him cry. She grabs him and sits him back down. "Joe, I'm here. I'm always going to be here. Talk to me, Joe." Joe looks at her. He feels a weird, tingling emotion running through his body. He immediately wants to hold her, kiss her, hug her, never let her go, smile at her, to give her the world... He immediately wants to marry her. Joe shakes his head at himself, for letting himself think this while his mother is dying.

Jenna gets the wrong impression, "What? You don't want to talk to me?... Its okay, then." Joe shakes his head quickly. "No! Jenna, I do want to talk to you. I just thought of something." Jenna reassuringly smiles at him. "Everything will be alright, Joe. It will." And, Joe believed her.

They all head back home and once they get to the mansion, they see that Mr. Jonas has already fallen asleep on the couch. Joe sighs to himself. Nick carries Sean up to his bedroom. Kevin leads a sleepy Andrea to their bedroom, leaving Jenna and Joe alone in the kitchen. No one talks for a while. Jenna takes a seat at the dinner table and Joe follows, taking a seat across her. A silence holds the room. "Uh... I'll go to bed when you do." Jenna says quietly. Joe reaches for her hand. "Jenna, thank you for coming back. I didn't know what I'd do without you. I'd go crazy." Jenna smiles, "Joe, you know I have no reason to live without you, that's why I'm back here." Joe feels much better. He takes her upstairs to their shared bedroom.

Jenna goes into the bathroom and takes a shower. After showering, she stares at herself in the mirror, wondering what's next tomorrow. She goes back to Joe's bedroom, and sees that he isn't in bed, but staring outside the window. Jenna sits by his side. Joe continues to stare at the stars, then finally takes a look at her glowing face. He takes her hand and places it on his heart. Jenna feels his heart skip a beat. She kisses him. They stare at the stars, that night, falling asleep in each other's arms.
