Aurora Spy Plane on a Rainy Day at Area 51

On a wet and slippery runway at Area 51 Pilots working for a mysterious
organization known only as "Skunk Works" take the AURORA out for a ride on a rare, wet, summer morning in the Nevada desert.

Ground Crews watch the Aurora on the rain soaked runway, looking to see what kind of traction the supersonic jet had. The AURORA performed magnificently.

The AURORA hovers low over the Groom Lake facility until it clears the airspace. Then, almost on a dime, the AURORA climbs nearly straight into the sky, climbing quickly above Area 51 and above the thunderstorm ahead.

The liquid methane fuel creates a blue flame which can be seen from the round. The propulsion system is not fully understood but it leaves an oddly wiggled and choppy contrail behind.

Area 51 was closed due to fallout problems causing the base to be shut down sometimes for weeks at a time. The black projects that were there became split between Colorado and Utah's high mountain base. As for Aurora it is like the blackbird now just a thing of the past.

i think i have seen this plane flying northeast to southwest over georgia at around 9:30 pm Fri Dec 16. also could have been a meteor shower due to clear skys. It was at high altitude and several engines, very fast, very blue, very cool.
